The Gents were a hugely popular and entertaining band, with a fiercely loyal fanbase, fronted by the talented, charismatic & very funny Bob Hill.
They wrote & performed excellent original songs, with frequently hilarious & occasionally provocative &/or profound lyrics, which now & then descended into a Morrisseyish darkness.
After the original split, back in 1990 or thereabouts, several band members (with a few new recruits)went on to form The Richardsons, who, like The Gents, are still remembered fondly by many.
Reformed(in more ways than one), after 18 years of child raising, mortgage earning, drunken debauchery, semi-transvestism, divorce, disaster and mental instability(depending on which band member one is referring to)The Gents are back.
The Gents have been compared to the Beatles, Can, Madness, Talking Heads, Ian Dury & The Blockheads & The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.
